(nieuw hotel, pax. terminal update. )

Gaarne jullie informatie, zienswijze en aanvullingen.
(indien link niet werkt, zie info Turkish cargo in MAA nieuws 30/3)

Please see news section on maa.nl regarding use of full track length. The way I read it the final go to use full stretch is still missing?

Thanks for your comment, but..

If you read the NOTAM right, as mentioned by Limburgwiki on march 3 and further rem. you see that it is a final go and within a forthnight books are updated and no confusion will be possible.

Please read maa.nl. The NOTAM has been issued too early. There are some delays:

An 'Omgevingsvergunning' has been requested for the construction of a new hangar at Horsterweg 19. This happens to be at SAMCO, so have they restarted efforts for the new maintenance hangar?

More requests were dropped last month , for the following locations Vliegveldweg 90 , Schotlandlaan and Aviation Valley.

Hopefully the start from the postponed activities as announced in the past . (see newspaper Limburger Friday sept. 11th 2015.)

Not too much news I would say. The charters include Corendon and Germania, and a facelift of the terminal is indeed planned. There were talks about 2017, but we will have to see whether that is realistic or not. Especially with respect to the problems regarding the new hotel (see news topipc).

The idea was 2017, but there are some issues with the new hotel which is to be connected to the new terminal, so I wonder to what extent this influences the planning of the facelift.

(Fully to my opinion, a 'speelautomatenhal' doesn't really appeal to me. They should use the space for more/better airport related facilities if you ask me).

Chance for MAA to get more flights from airlines whith expansion plans at Eindhoven which are

Any rumours ?

This first holiday-peak period at AMS, a lot of problems raised for travellers and airlines due to a too
tight schedule causing delays, missing flights, long in-check times etc.

A good opportunity for all parties to see/use the possibilities at regional airports where capacity is still available
also for the next peak-periods. Additional holiday charters have more possibilities and service for their pax at
MAA or GAE than at a hub like AMS. If more pax. ask for flights from reg. airports, airlines will follow the demand.

POV aug. 10 2017

I am a little disappointed about the news about reshaping the existing terminal, see newspapers aug. 17 and or section MAA news.

Are the legal problems with the plans for a new combined hotel/pax.terminal still not solved.

Why are the plans not ready at this moment , waiting for allowance from Brussel to start implimentation. ( ? )

Get the old terminal only a face lift , outside and inside , with some new decoration/painting and re-routing and no expansion or enlargements. Info. indicates only some modernization.

For me doubtfull if more pax. flights coming in a short period (within a couple of hours ) the terminal can cope with an increased number of pax.

How the airport will deal with construction works and please the pax at the same time , next peak season is not clear to me.

Please feel free to add your comment and keep this topic alive with your pov.

A new terminal costs money which has to be earned first and planning/construction takes quite some time. During this period, the existing terminal would still be as outdated as it is today with respect to facilities, capacity and looks. For now, they will modernize the existing one with limited resources to acceptable modern-day levels, with a connection to the new hotel in mind, which can be seen as 'Step 1'.

An update of the terminal will also aid in attracting new airlines together with the subsidy scheme which runs until 2019. Note that a fully new terminal could not possibly be completed before this scheme ends, so something has to be done now. During the coming winter season they have elbow room to do some stuff to the terminal, without bothering the passenger too much, especially the exterior can be done without too much inconvenience. Personally, I am not disappointed at all, it shows that finally something is happening, something which should have been started a long time ago.

Thanks for your pov I understand your comments but I don't understand why the "airport" has no masterpan READY with more options . e.g. High ( new building and state of the art .) expensive version. Medium ( enlarge and upgraded version )
or low . ( just cosmetic changes ) Some time ago the new man in charge was thinking about those options and now I missed
this info. I don't think that the airport can earn sufficent income in the future to finance a new terminal , they need funds and/or loans to realise. I know more things have to be done with higher priority , like IT systems upgrading, more cargo handling equipment needed to cope if 2 cargo terminals are needed due, to much higher volumes coming up soon.

True, but don't forget there is also the new investor who has funds to improve things around the airport, such as new equipment. There are more plans than we currently know of, just not everything is shared with the public yet, but you can assume a good masterplan for the coming years had to be and was part of the bid for operating MST.

Also, I do think that sufficient income can be earned in the future, as it has been indicated that the operational result is improving and freight (where the money is) is on the up.

There is another reason for updating the current terminal first as well. The new operator has indicated that they want to create business first and then further invest. Passenger operations are currently being developed. If still not a success after a few years, with an updated airport and better promotion, then it could be decided to pull the plug and solely focus on freight, mro and business traffic. If one would invest in a completely new terminal right away, the risk is simply too high without more pax operations.

MAA's profile on the routeshop hasn't been updated in a long while unfortunately, but indeed, the opportunities are there.

anyone with more inside information ? or just thoughts/possibilities ?
Earlier also an item which is not readable for non-subscribers. I can imagine it has everything to do with Schiphol nearing its limits and also cargo airlines will feel this. The second article mentions MST as a possible Lelystad for cargo flights.

Today, aug. 21th. newspaper Haarlems dagblad , stated that approx. 25 cargo slots will disappear at Schiphol this winter, due to lack of possibilities.

Moving abroad is most likely but also a chance for MAA I don t know if the Damco/China flights are included or not.
