In 1983 I finally was able to catch my very first B747-200 at MST. After the missed first visit of type in 1981, and the Lufthansa B747-200F D-ABYO because of no film in my camera. Not that I forgot it, but I had something else in mind to spend my money on that period.
So the summervacation of 1982 was the time I finally was able to get a 747 at Beek on film. Flying Tigers B747-200 N810FT was the lucky one. It was a hell of a day as I spend almost the whole day to wait and see it go. The pics are not that spectacular but it gives an impression about the old days at MST when there was a sugarbeets field instead of a BMW dealer...
On the 24th of April 2012 I catched the last B747-200F at MST. Veteran Avia B747-200F EK-74798 was still in the Nippon Cargo livery when I catched her on a Saturday, while she was waisting her time at the B-apron.
Pictures and stories from Maastricht Airport in the early years.
