[COLUMN] Turkish airliners: 1988 Torosair B727-200 TC-AJV

Torosair was in 1988 a new Turkish airline, operating flights from Turkey to several destinations in Europe. Maastricht was one of them. Their first plane was this Boeing B727-200 TC-AJV. Torosair flew twice a week to Beek with this bare metall Boeing. However, things went not so well for this 727 as it strucked an ILS antenna at Ankara Airport in 1989 in an attempt to take off, while on her way to Maastricht. The 727 returned to Ankara and landed safely. Unfortunally the old lady was damaged beyond economical repair and withdrawn from use.
